About the Role
School Crossing Patrol Officer – Silver End Primary School (Permanent, Part Time)
£13.00 per hour.
Location:
Silver End. Working style:
Operational field‑based worker.
Support schools once in the morning and once in the afternoon, ensuring the safety of all pedestrians crossing the road to and from school and its surrounding locations.
We are looking for a punctual and reliable individual who is approachable and enjoys engaging with the public.
We have 2 positions available from mid April 2026.
Positions- Temple Lane Crossing – 7 h 30 min per week (approx). Work 45 min 8:10‑8:55 am and 45 min 14:40‑15:25 pm, Monday to Friday during school term (39 weeks).
- Western Road Crossing – 6 h 40 min per week (approx). Work 40 min 8:10‑8:50 am and 40 min 14:40‑15:20 pm, Monday to Friday during school term (39 weeks).
Uniform, equipment, and training will be provided.
Responsibilities- To have regard for the needs of people with disabilities, especially mobility‑impaired people wishing to use the crossing point.
- Maintain regular contact with the schools attended by children using the crossing.
- Regularly assess the risks associated with operating at the crossing site in order to identify any problems. Report problems and defects to supervisor.
- Assist in the preparation of reports on accidents and failure to stop incidents and other incidents occurring at the crossing site.
- Ensure that all uniform and equipment provided is maintained in good condition and replacements requested when needed.
- Give clear signals to drivers when stopping traffic and ensuring that the traffic remains at rest until the road at the crossing point is clear of pedestrians.
