Are you a proactive, hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Engineer looking to develop your career in a fast-paced, heavy industrial environment?

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established manufacturing business where you will play a key role in maintaining and improving critical production equipment. The role combines responsibilities typically found in Mechanical Maintenance Technician and Annealing Engineer positions, offering variety, technical challenge, and long-term development.

The position is primarily day shift, however you will also be expected to support the maintenance team by providing 4 on / 4 off shift cover for holidays and sickness when required.

Key Responsibilities:

Act as a key point of contact for annealing maintenance operations, processes, TPM, and contractors to ensure smooth operation and maximum equipment availability.
Support and comply with company Health, Safety & Environmental policies, risk assessments, and SOPs.
Provide hands-on mechanical and technical support for annealing operations and site maintenance across other production lines.
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and TPM activities, while responding effe  ctively to breakdowns.
Monitor and analyse equipment performance to drive continuous improvement and improved reliability.
Liaise with production and engineering teams to coordinate maintenance work with minimal disruption.
Manage, coach, and develop apprentices, playing an active role in their technical progression.
Ensure spare parts availability and manage contractors on site, ensuring compliance with company standards.
Provide technical input on engineering projects, upgrades, and new equipment installations.
Requirements:

Time-served with relevant Mechanical Engineering qualifications (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, BTEC; HNC desirable).
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in medium to heavy industrial maintenance environments.
Strong knowledge of fluid power systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, fabrication, and machine shop activities.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic drawings.

Experience with annealing, induction furnaces, casting, or rolling equipment is highly desirable.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Able to work independently and as part of a team, with flexibility to provide 4 on / 4 off shift cover when required.
