Are you a Mechanical Engineering apprentice trained either with a BTEC or HNC who is looking to transition in a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer role?
  
My client is looking to recruit a Mechanical Engineering apprentice trained Technician who wants to develop to Mechanical Design. You will join this innovative specialist manufacturer as Junior Mechanical Design Engineer, and with the support of a large mechanical engineering team, will develop and grow your experience and knowledge. Your starting point will working with CAD drawings on a day-to-day basis using Solidworks.
  
Your day to day as a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer:  
 
Create product models and drawings in a CAD package (Solid Works), including a detailed understanding of geometrical product specification (GPS) tolerancing to BS8888:2020, dimensioning and stress analysis (finite element and hand calculation).
Write and review technical documents to support products, from build procedures, operation and maintenance manuals and technical files / design reports.
Create parts, assemblies, bills of materials within our PDM system.
Undertake experimental and validation testing where required with our products.
Developing and improving manufacturing and assembly processes / procedures for both new and existing products.  The successful Junior Mechanical Design Engineer will possess some of the following:
 
An advanced modern apprenticeship to a minimum of HNC level with multiple year industry experience will be considered.
Experience in a similar or related role

Experience of metal product manufacturing methods, in particular casting and forging processes, would be highly beneficial

Experience of efficient product design scaling approaches would be beneficial
Candidates should have demonstrable expertise in some of:
Mechanical component and/or pressure vessel design
Stress analysis of safety-critical components
Working to industry design standards or similar internal processes   Proficiency in a number of the following tools (listed in order of importance):
 
CAD:
Modelling and drafting for manufacture in Solid Works or similar
Finite element analysis:
Solid Works Simulation, (or equivalent package)
