What we’re looking for

As a Positive Behaviour Consultant you will be working with people in their own homes, you must be confident engaging with diverse groups of people, family members and multi-agency professionals. You need to be passionate about equality and equity, being able to see the potential for improvement and knowing how to guide the service to achieve the best for people we support.

You will already have experience working directly with people who have learning disabilities / autism and / or multi-sensory impairments and people who may present behaviours that challenge. You will be familiar and fluent in the use ABA skills to devise ways that are simple but effective to measure baseline and on-going development. You will be able to support the teams by putting plans into action through your direct modelling.

Drivers with their own vehicle is essential for this role.

Your responsibilities
  • Work closely alongside the support team to conduct functional behaviour assessments and service level assessments, develop positive behaviour support plans that enable therapeutic support to be delivered within the Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework.
  • To deliver (where applicable) PROACT-SCIPr-UK® and PBS training to the support teams.
  • To coach the support team how to deliver excellent support, using approaches such as Active Support.
  • To support the team to develop skills in monitoring and evaluating outcomes, for example using Periodic Service Review methods.
  • To work in partnership with local external professionals to evaluate the individuals progress through the transition in terms of response to the environment and situations.
  • To work with families to continue to build open, honest and transparent working relationships.
Qualifications

This position requires a minimum requirement of a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Behaviour Analysis or a related field (such as Positive Behaviour Support) with at least two years of applicable experience; or Master’s degree in Applied Behaviour Analysis, with one year of professional experience.

You’ll be either a full member or practising registrant of the UK Society for Behaviour Analysis (UK-SBA) and/or the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) where applicable.
