Inspector - Lead/supervisor – Oxfordshire
This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced inspector with supervisory experience to join a fast-paced engineering company supplying motor sport, medical and aerospace industries with low volume, custom engineered, precision parts.
The company has a modern headquarters, employs around 300 people across R&D, engineering & manufacturing, and it holds intellectual property that means its order book is full
The role is permanent, based full time on site in Oxford and hours of work are Monday to Friday normal day shifts.
What you will do:
* The inspection team of 12 people, focuses on in-process inspection, final acceptance testing and provision of data for product conformity reports. It provides dimensional and attribute data using primarily manual/hand inspection equipment (verniers, mics, gauges, etc)
* Your role will be 80% supervisory and 20% hand-on. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management and support of the team. This will include creating and driving best practices, efficiencies and consistencies across the team. You will create skills matrixes and develop individual competencies within the inspectors. You will not be responsible for resource allocation
* When not supervising, you will perform manual inspection duties alongside the team
What you will need
* Previous leadership responsibility (formal or informal)
* Demonstrate the ability to read engineering drawing to a high level. This includes GD&T as per BS8888.
* Be extremely familiar with manual inspection tools, equipment and practices
* An engineering qualification NVQ, ONC as a minimum would be desirable but experience in lieu will be considered
* Low volume, precision part experience eg motor sport, low volume vehicles, aerospace, defence, medical equipment.
* Unrestricted right to work in UK, ability to travel without reliance on public transport (not well served)
