Job SummarySupports the engine customer, sales department, and supplier requests in the proper selection, procurement or design, analysis, and release of the base engine and engine systems including but not limited to cooling, air intake, exhaust, fuel supply, controls, wire harnesses, mounting, and all associated software and hardware. Performs engine testing of OEM/DOEM’s equipment and all required installation review procedures to verify and document appropriate processes, designs, and performance inside acceptable criteria.
Specialization in internal combustion engines as applied to industrial off‑highway equipment is required.
Duties & Responsibilities
40% – Activity
- Provides application engineering support for ISZA‑PT distributors and OEM customers by performing functions such as:
- Transferring of technical data to OEM customers and ISZA‑PT distributors, and administration of ISZA‑PT technical files, technical drawings, and CAD 2D or 3D files
- Communicating engine specifications, installation guidelines & supplements, test criteria and requirements, and testing preparation and processes
- Representing ISZA‑PT Engineering in current and potential sales inquiries
- Updating project tracking schedules and management reports

- Performs installation checks and works with ISZA‑PT Sales and prospective OEM customers to ensure the engine application meets or exceeds Isuzu standards while meeting the OEM customer’s requests.

- Completing all reporting and documentation required for quality gate processes/meetings
- Reviewing and adapting test procedure for individual applications as needed
- Coordinating installation check schedule with application build schedule
- Providing application engineering recommendations
- Documenting layouts of all systems
- Inventory and procurement of test measuring equipment

- Supports the internal and customer applications training process including the creation of training materials and tools for conducting application/installation reviews.
- Develops application review training material for internal, OEM, and Distributor engineers related to:
- Supplemental material to installation guidelines and criteria
- Support training module builds and confirm test procedures

- Provides engineering support to application-related failures or performance issues for all ‘in‑field’ products such as:
- Communicating application requirements and expectations to ISZA‑PT Service
- Referencing and calculating engine technical data
- Performs miscellaneous job‑related duties as assigned.
- Reports to:
Manager, Applications & Sales Engineering
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or an Engineering discipline combined with experience in engine applications in the Off‑Highway field
- Minimum three years experience with an engine manufacturer, engine distributor, or related field, including project coordination experience
- Diesel engine installation; application engineering
- Mechanical and physical properties of mobile construction
- Engine electronics; OBD II, SAE J1939 and CAN BUS protocol
- Basic engine injection/timing/fuel delivery software (ECM/ECU)
- Knowledge related to automotive or industrial engine development (electronic controls)
- Knowledge of engineering disciplines: material properties, fluid dynamics, statics, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and vibration analysis
- Ability to use INCA calibration and diagnostics software, ETAS data acquisition hardware, and MDA analysis software preferred
- Wave Logger Pro data acquisition and Diadem analysis software knowledge desirable
- Advanced PC skills (database, graphics, presentation, spreadsheet and word‑processing)
- Excellent written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
