Environmental Project Manager – Actalent
The Environmental Project Manager is a pivotal member of the Michigan Management Team, responsible for leading the Michigan Environmental Services Department. This role involves supervising the Environmental Department staff and contributing to the growth and expansion of operations in Michigan.
Responsibilities- Serve as a supervisor for all Michigan Environmental Department staff, ensuring effective team management.
- Review and approve timesheets and expense reports weekly.
- Provide mentorship and career development opportunities for staff.
- Be available via phone during active project field work as the primary emergency contact.
- Complete performance appraisals and recommend annual salary adjustments.
- Coordinate and facilitate training opportunities for staff, ensuring certifications and licenses are maintained.
- Provide staff utilization forecasts and schedule regular coordination meetings.
- Lead business development efforts by identifying opportunities to expand market share and facilitate meetings with prospective clients.
- Develop and maintain client relationships and document interactions via the CRM platform.
- Assist in long‑term planning, develop growth strategies, and identify opportunities to incorporate new technologies.
- Manage project contracting processes, monitor project budgets and schedules, and ensure timely project completion.
- Identify and engage prospective candidates for department positions and attend career fairs for recruitment.
- Project management experience in environmental services.
- Expertise in environmental science, management, compliance, and remediation.
- Knowledge of permitting and compliance processes.
- 15+ years of experience in the field.
- Ability to manage projects and lead business development efforts.
- Strong relationships with EGLE and private sector entities.
- Experience with environmental assessments, remediation planning, and regulatory compliance.
Skills & Qualifications
- Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Ability to manage a team of engineers, scientists, and inspectors.
This is an office‑based role, typically working Monday through Friday, 40–45 hours per week. The position involves managing a team of 10–15 engineers, scientists, and inspectors. It is a salaried role with management‑level responsibilities and opportunities for annual bonuses.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Wixom, MI.
