Long Term Substitutes receive a daily rate of $125.00 for the first 20 days of work. Starting on the 21st day, they are compensated at the daily rate for either a Bachelor's ($344.82) or Master's ($370.56) level, based on their qualifications, for the remainder of their assignment.
The Elementary Education Teacher reports directly to the Principal of the School and is expected to work closely with all district personnel to provide high‑quality instruction to a diverse student population. S/he will provide a safe, equitable, culturally responsive learning environment with high expectations for all students.
Role & Responsibilities- Create a welcoming, inclusive, culturally responsive classroom environment that is conducive to students’ learning and to the ability of students to share their authentic selves.
- Implement the district curriculum (aligned with MA DESE Frameworks) to provide academic instruction of standards‑based skills, working with special education and EL staff, relative to the appropriate inclusion for all students.
- Administer district assessments and use data to implement effective strategies to meet the needs of all students.
- Remain current by participating in ongoing professional development activities within and outside the district, such as instructional technology.
- Diagnose and evaluate student abilities and progress through a variety of assessments in a timely and consistent manner; monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Refer students for alternative services as provided by the District.
- Utilize feedback from Principal, coaches and peers to reflect on the improvement of teaching practices and style.
- Effectively collaborate with grade‑level and department teams and teachers for best practices across the curriculum.
- Abide by state statutes, school committee policies, regulations, and the WPS Employee Handbook.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct student records as required by law and district policies.
- All other duties as assigned by the Principal or WPS Administration.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university required;
Master’s degree preferred. - Required Licensure:
Current Massachusetts DESE Certification in Elementary Education. - Prefer candidates with experience working with students, colleagues, and families from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio‑economic backgrounds.
- Previous training and experience across a variety of elementary‑level reading, mathematics, writing, and social‑emotional learning.
Terms of Employment:
As outlined in the Agreement Between The Woburn Teachers’ Association and The Woburn School Committee.
