Environmental Health and Safety Specialist
Mabbett & Associates, Inc. is a leading provider of environmental, health, and safety consulting and engineering services nationwide. We are seeking an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to join our Safety, Health and Industrial Hygiene Practice.
LocationThe position is based out of the firm’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Office in Alexandria, VA.
Typical Activities- Collect various types of industrial hygiene samples under chain‑of‑custody procedures.
- Conduct compliance audits and inspections, including hazard surveillance, job hazard analysis, and training program development and implementation.
- Interpret and identify applicable EHS and OSHA regulations.
- Update existing or develop new EHS programs.
- Data entry and analysis.
- Report writing.
- Travel to client sites (mostly within the DC metro area).
- Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Earth Science, Health & Safety or a related discipline.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience working in EHS or occupational health and safety.
- Working knowledge of EHS and OSHA regulations.
- Associate Safety Professional (ASP) credential or willingness/ability to obtain it shortly after hire. Graduate Safety Professional (GSP) acceptable.
- Industrial hygiene sampling/monitoring experience, preferred.
- Asbestos inspector or project monitor experience and licensure is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and complete tasks on time in a dynamic environment.
- Strong technical, interpersonal, organizational and communication skills (written and oral).
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Physical ability to work in the field, work outdoors, lift 50 lbs., etc.
- Must obtain Position of Public Trust and Federal Protective Services Favorable designations.
- Other clearance requirements for access to Federal facilities may be necessary and will be addressed on a case‑by‑case basis.
- Must successfully pass background check, pre‑employment physical exam, and drug screening (including cannabis and regulated substances).
- Valid Driver’s License with no major infractions.
