LED Group is a growing portfolio of lighting, optics, and technology businesses serving architectural, commercial, and specialty markets. With headquarters in New England and key manufacturing sites in Woburn, Massachusetts and Randolph, Vermont, 3
LED Group operates as a group of focused, entrepreneurial divisions, each led by a strong General Manager with clear P&L ownership. At approximately $25 M in revenue, we enable our General Managers with finance teams that remove friction, drive execution, and scale the business.
The Group Controller is a hands‑on, high‑impact leadership role responsible for financial accuracy, consistency, and operational enablement across the 3
LED Group. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Group Controller builds and leads a centralized accounting function that supports our General Managers and strengthens the financial backbone of the group as we scale.
- Operate a centralized group accounting function that delivers accurate monthly close, general ledger, financial reporting, and analysis.
- Centralize key financial workflows, banking, cash management, payroll and benefits administration, and coordination with external service providers (tax, audit, insurance) to reduce administrative burden on divisions.
- Partner directly with General Managers to review monthly results, understand drivers and variances, track KPIs and financial targets, and translate operating activity into financial outcomes.
- Design consistent, efficient, and user‑friendly accounting workflows that are easy for divisions to work with and that reduce duplicate accounting effort and headcount at the divisional level.
- Maintain internal controls, accurate inventory and cost accounting, data integrity across systems and reporting, and support budgeting, forecasting, and cash planning.
- Support ERP and system initiatives, own chart‑of‑accounts discipline and reporting consistency, and improve processes with a bias toward practicality over theory.
- 8–15 years of experience in accounting/controllership roles, preferably within manufacturing, distribution, industrial, or product‑based businesses.
- Deep comfort with inventory, cost accounting, and margin analysis.
- Experience operating or building centralized accounting or shared services.
- ERP experience with Net Suite, Dynamics, SAP, Rootstock, or similar.
- CPA or equivalent strongly preferred.
- Experience in growing, mid‑sized private companies (not only large public enterprises).
- Hands‑on, pragmatic, and detail‑oriented finance professional.
- Comfortable rolling up sleeves when needed and a clear communicator with non‑finance leaders.
- Service‑oriented mindset—pride in removing friction for others.
- Low ego, high standards, and a strong sense of ownership.
- Pure audit or compliance.
- Narrow technical accounting disconnected from operations.
- Corporate headquarters role removed from the business.
- CFO or capital‑markets focused.
- Large, standalone finance organization built for its own sake.
Competitive total compensation with a focus on scope and impact, proximity to decision‑making, and long‑term growth with the company.
