Milk Education is working with a welcoming and supportive SEN school in Woking, Surrey that is looking for an Aspiring Speech & Language Therapist to join their team from September 2026
.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about speech, language and communication who is hoping to pursue a career in Speech & Language Therapy
. You’ll gain invaluable school-based experience supporting pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Autism, and communication needs
, while working alongside experienced teachers and qualified Speech & Language Therapists.
As an Aspiring Speech & Language Therapist, you will:
- Provide targeted 1:1 and small group support for pupils with speech, language, and communication needs
- Support pupils with SLD, Autism (ASD), sensory needs, physical disabilities, and additional learning needs
- Deliver communication-focused activities and interventions under the guidance of teachers and Speech & Language Therapists
- Encourage the development of pupils’ communication, social interaction, confidence, and independence
- Support pupils who use AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) and other communication strategies
- Assist with implementing individual communication and behaviour support plans
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, SENCOs, and families to provide consistent support
- Monitor pupil engagement and progress, providing feedback to the wider team
- Help create a calm, supportive, and inclusive learning environment where every pupil can thrive
We’re looking for someone who is:
- A graduate in Psychology, Linguistics, Speech Sciences, Education, Childhood Studies, or a related subject
- Passionate about pursuing a career in Speech & Language Therapy
- Interested in supporting children and young people with SEND
- Patient, empathetic, resilient, and reliable
- Confident supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis
- A strong communicator who enjoys working as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Able to commit to a full academic year
Previous experience working with children or young people with additional needs is beneficial but not essential.
