OpportunityThe Infrastructure Engineer will be working with the infrastructure team to manage the production estate of the UK business. They must ensure that best practices are implemented and used throughout the infrastructure. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated team player with the ability to manage changing priorities. They will be able to take direction and perform and complete tasks with minimal direction.
They will have an attention to detail and take pride in the work and tasks they undertake. They will have excellent verbal and written communication skills and will be able to communicate effectively with technical and non‑technical colleagues. The candidate will be ambitious to learn and looking to take the next step in their IT career.
- System monitoring
- Managing and carrying out environment checks
- Managing & deploying patches/updates
- Managing backups & restores
- Managing & deploying SSL certificates
- Managing & deploying anti‑virus
- Server support & provisioning
- Disaster recovery and performance tests
- Network/Firewall support
- Documentation
- Operating Systems: current Windows Server OS’s and Linux platforms
- Deployment Tools:
Intune, Jamf - Infrastructure hardware including compute, SANs and networking
- Virtualisation, Microsoft Hyper‑V (preferable)
- Microsoft Azure and AWS
- Windows IIS
- SSL certificate management
- Microsoft SQL 2016/2019/2022
- Active Directory and domain services (DNS, DHCP, GPO’s)
- Network switches, firewalls (Fortinet and Watch Guard), wireless access points
- Familiarity with case‑management ticketing systems (preferable Fresh Desk)
- Backup tools and software (Veeam or similar)
- Demonstrable experience operating in an Infrastructure Engineer role
- Industry recognised qualification or vocational training from a relevant provider (e.g. Microsoft)
- Demonstrable hands‑on experience administering Microsoft SQL Server (2016/2019/2022), including installation, configuration, and maintenance tasks
- Proven experience working with virtualization software (predominantly Hyper‑V, but other platforms would be a bonus)
- Demonstrable awareness/working knowledge of network principals (TCP/IP, ports, VLANs, etc.)
- Practical experience to be able to demonstrate proficiency in managing firewalls, routers, switches and other network infrastructure
- Microsoft qualifications in relation to administration or networks (MCSE, MCSA, MCITP)
- Knowledge and/or experience of SANs
- Knowledge and/or experience of working with Watch Guard and Fortinet firewall products
- Knowledge and/or experience of Microsoft 365 systems
- Knowledge and/or experience of Azure
- Knowledge and/or experience of AWS
