Position: Pediatric Speech & Language Therapist – Growth & Impact

Our Band 5 Speech & Language Therapistsare part of the Paediatric Therapy team and will manage a general caseload of children with a range of varied and complex needs while accessing appropriate support and supervision. Newly qualified practitioners will work towards autonomous practise with formal supervision from their line manager.

Our Band 5 Speech & Language Therapistswill devise child centred therapy plans using evidence based practice to ensure that the individuals full potential is developed or maintained.

Base

The post holder will be based at a site within their local quadrant of Surrey. This could be an admin base or a clinical base. Admin bases are located in Woking, Guildford, Chertsey, Epsom and Redhill.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide specialist support and advice to children, parents, and families regarding therapy needs, using clear and appropriate communication.

  • Share and receive complex or sensitive information with empathy and professionalism.

  • Attend and organise multidisciplinary meetings to offer expert input on therapy needs and care planning.

  • Support families coping with emotional challenges, demonstrating sensitivity and understanding.

  • Prepare and maintain accurate written and electronic reports, records, and therapy documentation in line with professional standards.

  • Develop, implement, and review individualised therapy programmes, ensuring accessibility for parents/carers through verbal, written, or pictorial formats.

  • Conduct assessments, interpret results, and set therapy goals as part of holistic care planning.

  • Communicate assessment findings to paediatricians, parents/carers, and relevant professionals, contributing to diagnosis and ongoing care.

  • Make referrals to other professionals/agencies as appropriate.

  • Provide supervision to students and contribute to the training of parents, carers, and educational staff.

  • Deliver presentations and support the development of therapy services.

  • Effectively manage and prioritise a caseload, balancing clinical and professional duties..

  • Reflect on and develop own practice through supervision and continuous professional development in line with HCPC and professional standards.
