Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Neuro Rehab Physiotherapist to join the Bradley Unit team at Woking Hospital, part of Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The post is 22.5 hours a week on a 20‑bed, Level 2b specialist neurorehabilitation unit.
The role offers the chance to develop both clinical and leadership skills within a friendly, supportive team, and to contribute to service improvements and innovations.
Main Duties of the Job- Undertake advanced assessments, formulate clinical diagnoses, problem lists and patient‑led goals to provide appropriate treatment for patients with neurological conditions ranging from acute to chronic.
- Work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team, prioritising patient care and experience.
- Show passion for high‑level care and safeguarding, and communicate with empathy and initiative.
- Demonstrate leadership, deputise for team leads, and actively participate in service development and monitoring of standards.
- Line‑manage the Bradley Unit neuro‑rehab therapy team, including qualified and non‑qualified staff.
- Conduct physiotherapy assessment, rehabilitation and management of a complex neuro caseload from admission through discharge, including liaison and onward referrals.
- Participate in developing the service in line with national and local strategic plans.
- Support acute stroke/neurological patients, ESD patients, and weekend work as required.

- Clinical or Technical:
- Specialist patient assessments with diverse or complex presentations, in collaboration with the multi‑disciplinary team.
- Use investigative, analytical and clinical reasoning skills, manual assessment techniques and diagnostic procedures.
- Design individualised physiotherapy management plans, including patient education, exercise, group work and remote consultations.
- Formulate accurate prognoses, recommend interventions and develop comprehensive discharge plans, liaising with community and intermediate care teams.
- Evaluate progress, reassess and adjust programmes as needed.
- Leadership or Managerial:
- Record personal development and maintain professional competence via CPPD and portfolio.
- Participate in appraisal schemes as appraisee and appraiser for junior staff, students, assistants and other therapists.
- Facilitate and disseminate training, supervise Band 5 physiotherapists, students and assistants.
- Support the Band 7 team lead with appraisals of Band 5 staff.
- Communication and Engagement:
- Effective communication with all disciplines, ensuring multidisciplinary working.
- Deliver complex and sensitive information to patients, carers and staff, including giving unwelcome news and obtaining valid consent.
- Use influencing and motivational skills to encourage self‑management by patients.
- Communicate changes in care plans to colleagues and maintain timely communication with Clinical/Therapy Leads.
- Handle highly stressful or emotional situations empathetically.
- Information and Reporting:
