The company       A precision engineering business in West Surrey, producing complex, low volume components to a high specification for a demanding, design led market. Aluminium, titanium and stainless.
The team is small, so the work comes with real ownership and variety. This is not a production line, and no two weeks look the same.
Why this one is worth a look       The business is investing in high performance optics capability over the next eighteen months, with specialist processes being brought in house and a specialist engineer joining the team to lead that side of it.
For the right person that opens up the option of running a high end optical machining cell within a couple of years, alongside the existing metalwork. It is unusual career ground and there are not many places in the UK you could get it.
What you will be doing
Programming 3 axis, 3+2 and 5 axis parts, with programs that are fast and efficient, not just correct
Running the jobs you have programmed if you want time on the tools
Input into design changes for simpler and faster manufacture
Input into automation schedules and manufacturing to suit automation timelines
Scope to bring better programming workflows in. They are open to changing CAM package for the right reasons

What we are looking for
Proven 5 axis milling experience in a precision environment
Previous experience in a CAM package is essential. They currently program in Fusion 360, which is preferred rather than required
Solid grounding in G-code and Fanuc controllers
Aluminium, titanium and stainless experience
Turning experience is welcome but not essential
Motorsport, aerospace or defence background would suit this well
An understanding of automation workflows is desirable
An open, practical approach. They want someone who enjoys a technically awkward problem
Living within a sensible commute of the Guildford and Woking area
Please note this role involves working in an office and warehouse environment, and regularly lifting and manoeuvring heavy equipment.

What you will get         £52,000 - £60,000 depending on experience
37.5 hours per week, worked to suit you inside a 08:00 to 18:00 window, Monday to Friday. Early or late, as long as the hours are done
Overtime at time and a half
22 days holiday plus bank holidays
An extra day off for your birthday, taken in the same month
A Christmas shutdown, normally around a week, without using your holiday allowance
Permanent and full time, following a standard probationary period
A real route into high end optical machining as the business grows
