Are you an experienced Mechanical Inspector looking for a role where quality really matters?We're supporting the search for a skilled Mechanical Inspector to join a growing manufacturing environment, working with high-precision components and assemblies. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a hands‑on inspection role and takes pride in maintaining exceptional quality standards throughout the production process.
The Mechanical Inspector roleYou'll be responsible for carrying out inspection activities throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring components and assemblies meet engineering drawings, customer requirements, and quality standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Incoming inspection of machined, fabricated, moulded and purchased components.
- In-process and final inspection of sub-assemblies and finished products.
- Dimensional, visual and functional inspections using a variety of metrology equipment.
- Producing First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) and quality documentation.
- Conducting first-off and batch inspections.
- Raising non-conformances and supporting root cause investigations.
- Supporting supplier quality activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
To be successful in this role, you'll ideally have:
- A minimum of 3 years' experience within a mechanical inspection role
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- A strong understanding of GD&T
- Experience using inspection equipment such as micrometers, verniers, height gauges, bore gauges, DTIs and thread gauges.
- Experience operating and programming CMMs.
- Experience producing inspection reports and FAIR documentation.
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to quality.
- Aberlink CMM experience.
- Optical or non-contact measurement experience
- Knowledge of ISO 9001.
- Background in precision engineering or low-volume, high-complexity manufacturing.
- £40,000 - £45,000 salary depending on experience.
