Role Overview

We are seeking an outstanding Executive Personal Assistant to provide proactive, high‑quality and confidential support to the Director for Corporate, Customer & Change. This is a key role at the heart of a fast‑paced directorate, ideal for someone who is highly organised, resilient, and confident working with significant autonomy. As an EPA, you will help ensure the smooth and efficient running of the directorate—managing the Director’s time and workload, coordinating meetings, producing high‑quality documents, and acting as a trusted and professional liaison across the organisation, including with Members, senior officers, partners and stakeholders.

The role will include the line management of 1–2 Personal Assistants as needed, contributing to their development and to a high‑performing Executive Support function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the Director's diary with excellent judgement, anticipating needs and adjusting to changing priorities
  • Provide full administrative meeting support: forward‑planning, agenda preparation, accurate minute‑taking, action tracking and following up
  • Ensure the Director is fully briefed ahead of meetings, with all papers organised and accesible electronically
  • Act as a central communication point across the directorate, ensuring senior officers and Members remain fully updated on key matters.
  • Produce high‑quality letters, reports, presentations, templates and spreadsheets with accuracy and professionalism.
  • Line manage Personal Assistants, supporting performance, development, 1:1s and day‑to‑day workload.
  • When required, deputise for the Senior Executive PA, including support to the Corporate Senior Leadership Team, preparing papers, taking minutes and managing the Chief Executive's mailbox.
Candidate Requirements
  • Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively and identify urgent or important matters
  • Previous PA/EA experience with significant responsibility for diary and meeting management
  • Confident interpersonal skills, with a high level of professionalism, resilience and discretion to build positive, constructive relationships at every level
  • Strong IT skills across Microsoft Office and a keen interest in digital innovation, using technology to streamline processes and improve ways of working.
  • Experience line managing or mentoring others - or the confidence to grow into this
Benefits
  • Generous annual leave entitlement of 28 days (rising to 33 days after 5 years continued local government service), plus Bank Holidays
  • Enrolment in an excellent local government pension scheme
  • Employee assistance programme including 24/7 wellbeing helpline
  • Range of local & lifestyle discounts
  • Use of a free onsite gym (located at Shute End office)
  • Salary sacrifice car & cycle to work schemes
  • And much more!
