One-to-One English Tutors Required (Alternative Provision - Wokingham Area)

We are seeking dedicated one-to-one English tutors , ideally qualified teachers , to provide off-site educational support to students in and around Wokingham who are currently out of mainstream education .

While the primary focus is on KS3 and KS4 English , tutors should be willing to work with primary-aged pupils where required , depending on individual student needs.

This role is particularly well suited to teachers who are looking to step away from the pressures of mainstream classrooms and move into part-time, flexible work , while continuing to make a meaningful impact through focused, individual support.

Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK. Visa sponsorship is not available.

About the Role
  • Part-time, flexible 1-to-1 English tuition

  • Primarily KS3 and KS4, with occasional primary placements

  • Students are typically accessing alternative provision

  • Off-site education delivered locally within the Wokingham area

  • Work available until at least September and likely beyond

Student Profile & Focus

Students may present with SEMH needs, anxiety, school refusal, or previous exclusion , and require a calm, consistent, relationship-led approach.

Tuition may include:

  • English Language and Literature support

  • Reading comprehension and extended writing

  • Grammar, structure, and literacy development

  • Functional English and confidence-building

  • GCSE preparation where appropriate

Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status preferred (English specialism desirable)

  • Strong subject knowledge across KS3 and KS4

  • Willingness to support primary-aged pupils where required

  • Enhanced DBS (Update Service preferred)

  • Ability to travel locally

  • Experience with SEMH or alternative provision highly desirable

Pay
  • Rate dependent on experience and qualifications
