Join our team as a Senior Energy Operations Strategy Analyst and play a pivotal role in shaping Great Britain's cleaner, greener electricity system.
This is a critical and exciting opportunity to directly contribute to the security and efficiency of our national electricity supply. As a Senior Energy Operations Strategy Analyst
, you will be responsible for coordinating and optimising the energy strategy from two weeks ahead to day-ahead. You'll provide essential insight into system operational issues for the electricity control room, working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
You will provide crucial data analysis and clear explanations to the Control Room team, not just producing data but presenting findings in an understandable format for diverse audiences. Your role involves delivering day-ahead operational analysis with strict daily deadlines (typically by 4:00-5:00 PM each day).
Through coordination with European Transmission System Operators, you'll analyse supply and demand margins, advising internal and external stakeholders to enhance situational awareness.
This is a key role where you'll directly contribute to the security and efficiency of our national energy supply, offering an exciting opportunity to apply your skills across various teams and processes.
We're looking for someone passionate about process improvement and energy, with a strong understanding of data visualisation to aid communication across all stakeholder levels.
This role requires accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to meet tight deadlines, including working on a rota covering a weekend every 6 weeks in our Wokingham office, requiring regular attendance.
Key accountabilities- Model and forecast energy requirements by bringing together data on Demand, wholesale prices, and interconnector movements to understand market behaviour.
- Work with teams across NESO to develop the strategy to manage power system risks and system plan coordination to maintain security of supply.
- Facilitate key decisions to optimise system operations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of ongoing operability issues and opportunities.
- Engage in post-event analyses to refine processes and communication.
- Serve in analytical and liaison roles during real-time incidents.

- A degree in a relevant STEM field
, or equivalent experience in the energy industry - A demonstrated interest in the energy sector, with a great appreciation for how price fluctuations influence demand and generation.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to manage operational timescales effectively.
- Comfortable with statistical modelling, data visualisation
, and Excel, with an ability to turn complex data into clear insights. - Expertise in programming languages (Python, SQL, R and VBA) would be an advantage.

About what'll getA competitive salary between £60000 - £70000pa - dependent on experience and capability+ Weekend Allowance appx 6,250pa.
