Job DescriptionEngage in the development of advanced unmanned and autonomous systems with ALTEN Ltd. Join our team as a Senior Modelling and Control Engineer, where you'll design, model and validate complex control systems for unmanned platforms operating across air, land and maritime domains. You'll work on flight-critical systems, simulation environments and control architectures, contributing across the full lifecycle from concept through to integration, test and demonstration.

Candidates must be willing and eligible to obtain SC clearance.
- Design and develop modelling, simulation and control systems using MATLAB, Simulink and Stateflow
- Create, validate and manage model‑based designs, including requirements, test harnesses and code generation
- Support flight‑critical control system development for unmanned platforms across the full lifecycle
- Develop and execute SIL and HIL test environments linked to 6‑DOF dynamic models
- Integrate and validate autopilot, flight management and onboard systems
- Perform failure analysis activities (FMEA, FHA) and support redundancy design
- Contribute to subsystem integration, system testing and demonstration activities
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams and mentor junior engineers
- Expert use of MATLAB and Simulink toolsets
- Strong experience with Stateflow and model‑based design
- Proven background in modelling and control of unmanned or aerial systems
- Experience with embedded code generation and C/C++ integration
- Strong understanding of flight‑critical systems and architectures
- Experience defining and validating systems against requirements
- Ability to work across complex, safety‑critical engineering environments
- Strong team player with confident stakeholder engagement
- Able to maintain delivery focus under pressure
- Willingness to mentor and support junior engineers
- Clear and effective communicator across technical and non‑technical audiences
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, or relevant technical military background with equivalent experience.
- Experience with GNSS‑denied or contested navigation algorithms
- Knowledge of CAN, Ethernet and serial data interfaces
- Experience with UAS payload and sensor integration (EO, IR, EW, LIDAR)
- Exposure to flight testing, control tuning and system identification
- Familiarity with aerospace standards such as DO‑178B/C
- Experience managing or leading modelling & simulation teams
