The expanding UK Energy Advisory business seeks a Principal Engineer to join the Renewable Energy Advisory team. You will manage and deliver a range of advisory services, drive innovation in power generation solutions, and help shape the future of sustainable energy projects while mentoring the next generation of engineers.
ResponsibilitiesTechnical Advisory
- Modelling and model verification, Options Appraisals, Feasibility Studies, Pre‑FEED, FEED, Life‑Cycle Cost Analysis, Technology specific Owners Engineering services.
- Determine equipment performance specifications and key inputs throughout the development or review of engineering design.
- Lead and contribute to coherent and concise technical reports and proposals.
- Act as technical lead and be accountable for key tasks and quality data outputs through a project reviewer role.
- Engage with a range of stakeholders at all levels, including leading and contributing to client meetings, presentations, and technical discussions.
- Project manage multidisciplinary project teams, coordinating activities across various technical domains.
- Identify and use technical tools to support project delivery and contribute to best practices and standard methodologies.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and technological advancements in renewables.
- Provide input to thought leadership within Jacobs and externally.
- Develop client relationships, leading progress meetings and presentations.
- Collaborate with the sales team and conduct business development activities to grow the Renewable Energy portfolio and pipeline.
- Prepare compelling proposals to secure new business opportunities.
- Significant engineering experience on renewable generation projects and their integration (solar PV, wind, BESS, etc.), either in consultancy or development.
- Minimum relevant engineering degree or higher (e.g., Masters or PhD).
- Membership of, or working toward, a recognised professional institution/organisation, preferably at a Chartered level.
- Knowledge of the UK and Continental Europe renewable energy market, key growth areas, and global market insight.
- Strong project management skills, including ability to develop clear work programmes and delegate requirements to team members.
- Strong analytical and communication skills; ability to engage with colleagues and clients and provide clear, evidence‑based advice verbally and in written reports and presentations in English.
- Capability to work under tight deadlines while achieving objectives and managing competing priorities.
- Experience of team leadership and training/mentoring junior staff.
- Flexibility to travel between offices and client locations, as the team is based in England, Scotland and Wales.
