ResponsibilitiesAs an Engineer (Electrical Power System Support) in the Day Ahead Congestion Forecast Team, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the safe and reliable operation of the UK’s electricity transmission network. Your work will focus on two key responsibilities:
- Creating and releasing UK grid models to CORESO (Coordination of Electricity System Operators) to support transmission security analysis.
- Producing and preparing power system studies that enable engineers to carry out day-ahead transmission network analysis and make informed operational decisions.

We’re looking for someone with a degree or background in Engineering or another STEM or numerical discipline, combined with a genuine curiosity and enthusiasm for learning. If you enjoy solving complex problems, analysing data and working with innovative technologies, you’ll thrive in this role.
This role is based in Wokingham and, due to the shift-based nature of the position, requires regular office attendance.
This position operates on a 4-week rolling daytime shift pattern, covering 365 days a year. In addition to your base salary, you’ll receive a shift allowance for working this rota.

What You’ll DoIn this role, you’ll help ensure the safe, secure and efficient operation of Great Britain’s electricity transmission network by:
- Creating and releasing UK individual grid models to CORESO for transmission security analysis.
- Preparing study models and supporting Transmission Analysis Engineers within National Control to enable secure and economic operation of the power system in day-ahead control timescales.
- Maintaining and improving power system study models, datasets and supporting tools to ensure high-quality data is available for Network Access Planning.
- Building strong working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across the business to support effective operational decision-making.
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes and actively contributing to testing, continuous improvement initiatives and new ways of working

You’ll Also Have- A sound understanding of electrical engineering principles and electrical theory.
- A basic understanding of NESO’s role within the electricity industry.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
- Experience presenting technical information clearly for peer review.
It would also be beneficial, although not essential, if you have:
- Experience working within the electricity or wider energy industry.
- Experience with coding or automation, particularly using Python.
