About the Role
:
We are seeking a highly experienced Power System Network Model Engineer with expertise in Transmission EMS Network Modelling and Power System Applications. The role is responsible for enhancing, maintaining, and validating the Energy Management System (EMS) Network Model by creating and managing device relationships across the electrical network. The successful candidate will ensure accurate representation of substations, transmission assets, network topology, connectivity, telemetry, and operational equipment within the EMS environment.

The role will support critical EMS functions, including Network Topology Processing, State Estimation, Contingency Analysis, Load Flow Analysis, and Real-Time Operations. An experienced EMS Network Modelling specialist with deep expertise in Transmission Network Models, Device Relationship Creation, Connectivity Modelling, and Real-Time EMS Applications, capable of supporting complex operational environments and ensuring high-quality network model accuracy.

Responsibilities
:

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance Transmission EMS Network Models.
  • Create and manage device relationships between network assets, including:
  • Substations
  • Busbars
  • Disconnectors/Isolators
  • Transformers
  • Transmission Lines
  • Generators
  • Reactive Compensation Devices
  • HVDC Assets
  • SCADA Telemetry Points
  • Build and maintain accurate connectivity and topology models within the EMS platform.
  • Perform network model validation, quality assurance, and data integrity checks.
  • Support modelling activities for new commissioning, network changes, and asset updates.
  • Ensure consistency between EMS, SCADA, GIS, Asset Management, and Planning systems.
  • Analyse and resolve model discrepancies impacting EMS applications.
  • Support State Estimator, Network Topology Processor, Power Flow, and Contingency Analysis functions.
  • Participate in network model migrations, system upgrades, and integration activities.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, modelling standards, and operational procedures.
  • Support model governance, audit readiness, and compliance activities.

Supervisory / Managerial responsibilities
:
Able to manage the customer and stakeholders.

  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize and communicate project risks.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and challenges throughout the project development and successfully managing the customer expectations.
  • Accurate and validated EMS Network Models.
  • Complete and reliable device relationship modelling.
  • High-quality network topology representation supporting real-time operations.
  • Timely implementation of network changes and commissioning updates.
  • Compliance with model governance, quality, and audit requirements.

Qualifications
:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience in Power System Network Modelling, EMS Applications, or Utility Operational Technology environments.
  • Experience working with Transmission System Operators (TSO), Independent System Operators (ISO), Utilities, or Control Centres.

Required Skills
:

  • Strong experience in Transmission EMS Network Modelling and Power System Applications.
  • Expertise in creating and maintaining device relationships and network connectivity models.
  • Solid understanding of:
  • Substation Configurations
  • Network Connectivity Modelling
  • Load Flow and Contingency Analysis
  • Operational Power System Principles
  • Experience with EMS platforms such as:
  • GE Power On
  • GE XA/21
  • Knowledge of IEC CIM standards (IEC 61970/61968) and model exchange processes.
  • Experience with SCADA point-to-device mapping and telemetry modelling.
  • Understanding of database technologies, SQL, XML, and automation scripting (Python preferred).

Preferred Skills
:

  • Experience with advanced modelling techniques and tools.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements in the energy sector.
