Our client is a well-established electronics business supplying franchised and third-party embedded and power products into a range of industrial and commercial markets. They're looking for a Technical Manager to take ownership of their Embedded and Power division, covering everything from pre and post-sales technical support through to in-house test, EMC and production oversight.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role. You'll be the go-to for design-in support, third-party product qualification, and resolving technical queries at every level, working closely with the sales team and directly with customers where needed. You'll also manage a small team spanning field applications, test and production.
Key responsibilities- Design in franchised and third-party products to meet customer and company requirements
- Resolve pre and post-sales technical enquiries, supporting the sales team on-site and remotely
- Source and qualify third-party products against company and customer needs
- Create and maintain build/test documentation, technical specifications and customer documentation (user manuals, FAT, FAI)
- Oversee prototype manufacturing and integration of franchised, third-party and custom products
- Supervise EMC testing and manage the in-house test facility
- Generate wiring schedules, test specifications and reports
- Manage production workflow and ensure quality standards are maintained throughout
- Lead a small team covering field applications, test and production
- Degree in Science, Engineering or Electronics, or equivalent industry experience
- Broad background in electronics design, manufacture and test, including high-level system design
- Working knowledge of CAD schematic capture, EMC/environmental testing and design for EMC
- Familiarity with civilian and military standards for safety, EMC and environmental compliance
- Comfortable with embedded boards, power supplies, fault-finding and repair
- Experience managing people, projects and workload under pressure
- Strong communicator, confident liaising with customers, suppliers and internal teams
