Kent - Hybrid Working Salary: £54,850 - £62,064, plus £7,518 car allowance Full time role Permanent Overview of the Property Lawyer role Sellick Partnership is delighted to be partnered with Dover District Council on the recruitment of a Property Lawyer on a permanent, full-time basis. Due to continued growth, Dover District Council are seeking a Property Lawyer to join their Legal Services team, to provide high-quality legal advice and support to the Council, with a particular emphasis on social housing, shared ownership, and affordable housing transactions.
Key responsibilities of the Property Lawyer role You will provide legal advice on all aspects of property law within the local authority setting, with a strong focus on social housing and shared ownership, including but not limited to:
Advising on shared ownership sales, including staircasing and the capital funding guide. Residential conveyancing matters including sales of council property and acquisitions, to include drafting and negotiation of the necessary documentation. Drafting, negotiating and advising on appropriate documents in relation to residential leasehold sales and/or extensions. Advising on multiple off-the-shelf/turnkey acquisitions on larger development sites. Investigating and drafting reports on title of registered and unregistered land.
Advise on the validity and enforce ability of covenants and other. rights/obligations affecting land. Managing post-acquisition requirements including registration and SDLT. Advising on commercial landlord and tenant issues, including drafting, negotiating and completing leases, licences and such other legal documents as appropriate. Required experience for the Property Lawyer role To be considered for this local authority Property Lawyer position, you will have: A qualification as a Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive, with current practising certificate.
Minimum of 5 years' post-qualified experience in property law Proven experience specifically within social housing, shared ownership and affordable housing matters. Experience working within a local authority, public sector, or similar in-house legal environment is advantageous.
