Non-Executive Director and Chair of Audit and Risk - Loddon Homes

Loddon Homes is seeking an experienced and committed Non-Executive Director to join our Board and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of affordable housing across Wokingham Borough.

As a Non-Executive Director, you will work collectively with fellow Board members to set the strategic direction of Loddon Homes, oversee organisational performance and ensure the company maintains strong governance and regulatory compliance.

We are particularly interested in candidates with significant expertise in finance, audit and risk management, who are able to Chair the Audit and Risk Committee.

The successful candidate will:

• Provide independent challenge and support to the executive team.
• Contribute to the development and delivery of the organisation's long-term strategy.
• Ensure robust oversight of financial performance, business planning and investment decisions.
• Champion effective risk management and internal control frameworks.
• Chair the Audit and Risk Committee, leading scrutiny of financial reporting, assurance and compliance.
• Support the Board in maintaining strong governance and regulatory standards.
• Ensure residents remain at the heart of decision making.
• Act as an ambassador for Loddon Homes and its mission.

We are looking for an individual who brings senior-level leadership experience and a passion for public purpose.

You may currently be, or have previously been:

• A Board Member, Non-Executive Director or Trustee.
• A Chief Executive, Finance Director, Audit Partner, Chief Risk Officer or equivalent senior executive.
• A leader from the housing, public, private or not-for-profit sectors with strong financial and governance expertise.

• Significant experience in finance, audit, risk or assurance.
• The ability to analyse complex information and provide constructive challenge.
• Experience of corporate governance and board-level decision making.
• Strong strategic thinking and sound judgement.
• A commitment to integrity, accountability and resident-focused outcomes.
• An understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing housing organisations.

Knowledge of the social housing sector is welcome but not essential. We are particularly interested in candidates who can bring diverse perspectives and transferable expertise from other sectors.

Successful candidates will receive a comprehensive induction programme, including stakeholder engagement, governance training and ongoing Board development opportunities.

This role will be for approximately 10 days per year, including Board meetings, Committee meetings and development sessions, for a duration of up to two terms for three years.
