We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to support a busy construction-focused accounting team. This role is ideal for someone who can manage invoice activity with accuracy, communicate effectively across departments, and keep payment workflows organized in a deadline-driven environment. The position works closely with accounting leadership and project teams to maintain reliable financial records and ensure vendor documentation is processed correctly.

Responsibilities:

- Manage day-to-day accounts payable activities while supporting the Controller in maintaining accurate and timely financial processing.

- Coordinate with project managers and accounting personnel to review billing details, resolve discrepancies, and confirm invoice accuracy before payment.

- Record vendor invoices in Sage Paperless and related accounting systems with careful attention to coding and documentation standards.

- Process invoice matching, coding, and payment preparation to help keep check runs and disbursement schedules on track.

- Communicate with vendors, subcontractors, and internal staff to answer payment questions and gather missing information when needed.

- Provide administrative and accounting support for additional departmental tasks as priorities shift and business needs evolve.

Our client has a target base salary range of $55-70k and they offer multiple healthcare plan options, a 401k plan, and paid time off for all staff.

Requirements

Desired Experience

- 2+ years of experience in accounts payable, accounting support, or administrative accounting

- Background in construction accounting or the contractor industry is strongly preferred.

- Experience with accounting software programs is highly preferred

- Ability to code invoices accurately, manage multiple priorities, and meet established deadlines.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with employees, customers, vendors, and subcontractors.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
