We are looking for a motivated and organised Volunteer Services Officer to support the delivery of volunteering across The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust and Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust.

Working under the direction of the Volunteer Coordinator, you will provide administrative support, help coordinate volunteer activity, and act as a key point of contact for volunteers and staff.

You will support volunteer recruitment, induction and ongoing engagement, helping to ensure volunteers are effectively supported and contribute to a positive patient experience across both organisations.

Main duties of the job

Provide administrative support for the recruitment, induction and ongoing coordination of volunteers. Act as a first point of contact for volunteer enquiries and provide day-to-day support. Maintain accurate volunteer records and databases, ensuring compliance with Trust processes. Support the organisation of volunteer training, events and engagement activities. Liaise with wards, departments and teams to support effective volunteer placements. Assist with general administrative duties within the wider Patient Experience team

Job responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the recruitment, onboarding and training of volunteers
  • Acting as a point of contact for volunteer enquiries and providing routine advice and support
  • Maintaining accurate records and databases relating to volunteer activity
  • Assisting with the coordination of volunteer placements across wards and departments
  • Supporting the organisation of volunteer events, training and engagement activities
  • Liaising with clinical and non-clinical teams to support effective use of volunteers
  • Providing general administrative support within the wider Patient Experience service

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Good general standard of education (e.g. GCSEs or equivalent)
Knowledge and Experience
  • Experience of working in an administrative or office-based role
  • Experience of working with the public or service users
  • Knowledge of basic data protection and confidentiality principles
  • Experience with in a healthcare, public sector, or voluntary setting
Skills and Aptitudes
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic IT skills, including use of Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Good organisational and time management skills
