Pay Rate: £16.00 per hour
Hours:
37 per week Monday to Friday – all onsite
As a Trainee Indirect Buyer, you'll support the procurement team in managing the end‑to‑end purchasing process across areas such as Facilities Management (FM), Maintenance, Repair & Operations (MRO), and Capital Expenditure (Capex). This role is designed to give you exposure to key procurement processes, systems, and supplier interactions, helping you build a strong understanding of how procurement operates within a regulated and high‑performing industry.
Key Responsibilities- Procurement Support & Sourcing
- Assist with sourcing activities in line with company policies and procedures
- Support RFQ (Request for Quotation) and RFP (Request for Proposal) processes
- Help gather supplier quotes and contribute to supplier evaluations
- Spend & Category Support
- Support the management of indirect spend categories
- Assist with tracking costs and identifying potential savings opportunities
- Help monitor supplier performance and flag any risks
- Supplier Coordination
- Work with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods and services
- Support the team in maintaining positive supplier relationships
- Assist in resolving basic supplier or delivery issues
- Operational Procurement Activities
- Raise purchase orders and support Procure‑to‑Pay (P2P) processes (training provided)
- Help with invoice queries and ensure accurate documentation
- Maintain accurate data within procurement systems (e.g. SAP)
- Compliance & Administration
- Ensure all activities are carried out in line with company policies and standards
- Maintain clear and organised records for audit purposes
- Support the team in managing compliance and governance requirements
- Data & Reporting
- Assist with basic spend analysis and reporting
- Support the team in tracking procurement performance metrics
- Use internal systems to gather and interpret data
- A recent degree (or equivalent), ideally in business, supply chain, engineering, or a related subject
- Strong willingness to learn and develop a career in procurement
- Good analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Confident communication skills (written and verbal)
- Basic IT skills, particularly in Excel (SAP experience is a bonus, not required)
- Eagerness to learn and take initiative
- A proactive and positive attitude
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail
- Good time management and organisational skills
- Placement year, internship, or project experience in procurement, supply chain, or business
- Awareness of procurement or supply chain principles
- Interest in working towards a professional qualification such as CIPS
