We are a specialist infrastructure manufacturer and contractor supplying balustrade and parapet systems for highway bridges, flyovers, and road infrastructure projects across the UK. Our work supports major highways schemes, local authorities, and principal contractors, delivering high-quality fabricated and installed solutions.
The RoleWe are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to manage the commercial and cost control aspects of projects involving the fabrication and installation of highway balustrade and parapet systems. This role is responsible for pricing work, overseeing project costs, managing applications for payment, and protecting commercial margins from order through to final account. You will work closely with internal fabrication, sales, and project teams, as well as external subcontractors and clients.
Key Responsibilities- Price the fabrication and installation of balustrade and parapet systems for highway and bridge projects
- Review tender and contract documentation and prepare accurate quotations
- Manage project costs against agreed budgets and forecasts
- Prepare valuations and submit applications for payment in line with contract requirements
- Assess, price, and submit variations and compensation events with supporting information
- Monitor and control subcontractor costs, including reviewing and validating invoices
- Support the appointment of installation subcontractors and associated site services
- Identify and report commercial risks and opportunities to senior management
- Resolve commercial queries and assist with final account agreement
- Support project teams with day-to-day commercial matters throughout the project lifecycle
- Track changes to design or scope and adjust cost forecasts accordingly
- Experience working under NEC contracts is preferred but not essential
- Ability to manage commercial data and reporting through internal systems
- Support KPI reporting relating to cost, revenue, and project performance
- Background in Quantity Surveying or commercial management within construction or infrastructure
- Experience pricing and managing fabrication and/or installation works
- Strong understanding of cost control, valuations, and subcontractor management
- Confident communicator with the ability to work across multiple departments
- Organised, commercially aware, and capable of managing multiple projects
