Job Summary
The responsibility will be to work as a Consultant Haematologist and manage patients independently. The role consists of working in a team of consultants and junior doctors managing Haematological conditions. You will be expected to manage both inpatients and outpatients. The role will include diagnostic Haematology with blood film and bone marrow reporting. You will be expected to participate in a 1:8 on call rota covering weekdays and weekends.
The role includes consultative Haematology giving advice to different healthcare professionals. The role will involve working across 3 sites including New Cross hospital, Cannock Chase hospital and Walsall. The Trust actively welcome applicants who have an interest in malignant, thrombosis and haemostasis and haemoglobinopathies. The department is currently looking to cover a full time and part time role and welcomes applications from those seeking these working patterns.
duties of the job
- In conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, to provide a service in Hematology.
- In conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, to play a full part in the out-of-hours On-Call service for the department. This includes being on-call for telephone advice and major incidents.
- To provide cover for Consultant and Senior colleagues in respect of periods of leave.
- In conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, to take part in medical audit and research as appropriate.
- In conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, to ensure that the requirements of clinical governance are met.
- To ensure that there are adequate arrangements for hospital staff involved in the care of your patients to be able to contact you when necessary.
- In conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, to play a full part in the professional supervision and management of junior medical staff.
- In conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, to take responsibility for and devote time to teaching, examination and accreditation duties as required for junior medical staff.
- In conjunction with Divisional Manager, Consultant and Senior Colleagues, to take an active role in the management of the Division.
