Part-Time Veterinary Surgeon

The Role

• 24 hours per week
• Salary:
  Up to £36,000 per annum (£60,000 FTE), dependent on experience
• Fixed shift pattern:
  • Wednesday: 9:00am – 6:00pm (consults; 30‑minute sick pet appointments as standard)
  • Thursday: 9:00am – 8:00pm (consults; 30‑minute sick pet appointments as standard)
  • 1 in 4 weekends*:
    • Shift options: 7:30am – 6:00pm, 9:30am – 8:00pm, or 10:00am – 8:30pm
• Weekend shifts focus on ECC and pre‑booked emergency consults only.

You will work alongside a full and well‑supported clinical team, typically including three vets per shift, managing:

• Hospital inpatients
• Emergency on‑the‑day consultations
• ECC procedures and surgery

Teams are carefully structured to ensure a balanced mix of skills across medicine, consulting, and surgery.

We are particularly interested in candidates with a passion or experience in:

• Ophthalmology
• Dermatology
• Feline medicine

There is excellent scope to develop your own referral clinics, supported by strong internal referral potential from 19 feeder practices connected to the hospital’s OOH and referral services.
