SEMH Teaching Assistant – January start
Location:
Wolverhampton
Salary: £90 – £110 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date:
January 2026
Contract:
Full-time, Monday to Friday
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school environment this January. This is a full-time role, working 5 days a week, supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide individual and small group support for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
Assist in the delivery of tailored lessons to meet students' specific needs
Support students in developing social, emotional, and academic skills
Help manage classroom behaviour, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment
Work with teachers to implement and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
Maintain records of student progress and communicate effectively with parents and colleagues
Assist with any personal care needs, if required
Adhere to safeguarding and child protection guidelines
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
A Level 3 qualification or at least 6 months’ experience in an educational setting
Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
Patience, empathy, and the ability to work pro actively with students who may have challenging behaviour
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
