Overview
School Experience Required | SIMS, Bromcom or Arbor
We are supporting a school in the appointment of an experienced School Business Manager to oversee the operational, financial, and administrative functions of the school. This role is strictly suited to candidates who have previous experience working within a school or multi-academy trust and are confident using school MIS systems.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team to ensure the school runs efficiently, compliantly, and in line with education sector requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the school's business and operational functions
- Manage budgets, financial processes, and procurement activity
- Use and maintain school systems such as SIMS, Bromcom, and/or Arbor
- Oversee HR administration, staffing records, and contracts
- Ensure compliance with education regulations, audits, and policies
- Manage premises, health & safety, and external suppliers
- Prepare reports for SLT and Governors
- Line-manage finance or administrative staff where applicable
- Have proven experience as a School Business Manager or similar role within a school or MAT
- Be confident using SIMS, Bromcom, or Arbor for school operations and reporting
- Have a strong understanding of school finance, HR, and compliance
- Be highly organised and able to manage competing priorities
- Communicate effectively with staff, governors, and external stakeholders
- Understand safeguarding, confidentiality, and data protection within schools
