We are looking for a creative, flexible, and highly organised careers guidance professional with a Level 6 Diploma in Careers Guidance and Development or equivalent. Successful candidate requires full NVQ 6 in Careers Information Advice and Guidance.

The Connexions Service is the lead agency in the City of Wolverhampton supporting young people through their transition to adult life and focusing on progression to education, employment or training. The service targets those most at risk of becoming NEET and those who are NEET, including vulnerable groups such as young offenders, LAC, homeless, teenage parents and young people with SEND.

The service helps young people identify and assess barriers to progression and uses solution-focused interventions to enable potential achievement.

The service provides careers information, advice, guidance, and support to young people aged 13-19 (up to 25 for those with special educational needs or disabilities) to help them make informed choices about learning, employment and training. It has a statutory responsibility to support participation in learning until the age of 18.

Responsibilities
  • Work in a range of settings such as schools, the Local Authority setting and in the community. Manage a caseload of young people and provide careers information, advice and guidance to help them develop career management skills and make informed choices about learning and work. Support them through transition to post-school education, employment and training.
  • Help young people evaluate progress and achievement. Write individual Action Plans or Career Pathway Plans to track progress and development. Contribute to reviews of young people with Education, Health and Care Plans for those with SEND.
  • Advocate for young people with additional and significant needs to address barriers and enable well-informed choices about future education, training and employment. Awareness of barriers faced by those with SEND and those using augmentative and alternative communication methods is advantageous.
  • Work with vulnerable cohorts such as those with SEND.
Qualifications
  • Level 6 Diploma in Careers Guidance and Development or equivalent. Successful candidate requires full NVQ 6 in Careers Information, Advice and Guidance.
