KS2 Graduate Teaching Assistant

Want to build strong upper primary experience before moving into teacher training or educational psychology? Could you give Year 6 pupils the focused support they need to feel more confident ahead of their exams?

September 2026 – July 2027, £85 - £105 per day, Primary school, Central Wolverhampton, 1:1 and small group intervention support in preparation for exams.

The Role

Support KS2 pupils through 1:1 and small-group intervention in the lead up to their exams. You will reinforce reading, SPaG, and Maths, help pupils close gaps in learning, prepare simple revision resources, and give teachers clear feedback on progress. KS2 tests in 2026 are scheduled for 11 to 14 May, and teaching assistants commonly support classroom learning, reading, writing, and other learning activities.

The

Candidate

You are organised, encouraging, and able to explain ideas clearly to primary-aged pupils. You want meaningful school-based experience, enjoy helping children build confidence in core subjects, and are keen to play a direct role in helping pupils feel ready for the demands of upper KS2.

Requirements
  • Degree – A 2:2 or above in any subject.
  • Communication – Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
  • Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
  • Desire to work in education/with children – Genuine interest in supporting pupil progress and wellbeing.
  • Career Goals – A desire to train as a teacher or pursue a career in educational or clinical psychology.
The School

This primary school in Central Wolverhampton offers the chance to build valuable experience in a setting where progress, consistency, and targeted support matter. You will work closely with teaching staff in a role that gives you direct exposure to upper KS2 practice, intervention planning, and exam preparation. Current government guidance confirms that assessment arrangements for the 2025 to 2026 academic year remain unchanged, with KS2 testing still forming a key part of Year 6 assessment.
