Role Overview

We are looking for a committed, enthusiastic, and flexible Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our team at Ormiston NEW Academy. As an LSA, you will support students’ learning journeys, helping them overcome barriers, build confidence, and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one‑to‑one or small group support to students with learning difficulties, including those with disabilities, health issues, behavioural or social development needs, dyslexia, and English as a second language.
  • Assist with lesson planning and delivery in collaboration with teachers.
  • Support students in developing study skills, confidence and self‑esteem.
  • Monitor progress and report to the teaching team.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies in line with the Academy’s policies.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience as a teaching assistant with one‑to‑one or nursery support for students with significant SEN needs.
  • Strong caring and nurturing approach towards children and young people.
  • Knowledge of inclusive education practices and support strategies.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Previous experience working with pupils who have diverse learning needs (e.g., dyslexia, behavioural challenges).
