About

The Role

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated AEP Teacher to join our Alternative Education Provision team. This rewarding role focuses on supporting young people who may have experienced barriers to learning, disrupted education, or additional social, emotional and behavioural challenges.

You will play a vital role in helping students re-engage with education, close gaps in learning, and achieve meaningful qualifications in English and Mathematics. Through personalised teaching and tailored support, you will help learners build confidence, develop resilience, and progress towards further education or training opportunities.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons in GCSE English and Mathematics, tailored to individual learner needs
  • Teach Functional Skills English and Mathematics lessons that enable learners to make measurable progress and achieve their qualification goals
  • Develop personalised learning plans that address barriers to learning and support student progression
  • Monitor, assess and record learner progress, adapting teaching strategies where necessary to maximise outcomes
  • Prepare students for GCSE examinations through targeted interventions, revision programmes and effective assessment practices
  • Create a safe, inclusive and structured learning environment that promotes positive behaviour and engagement
  • Build positive relationships with students, helping them develop confidence, motivation and independence
  • Work collaboratively with support staff, parents, careers and other professionals to ensure learners receive appropriate support
  • Maintain accurate records, reports and learner data in line with organisational requirements
  • Utilise educational technology and digital learning platforms to enhance teaching, learning and progress monitoring
  • Support learners in identifying and achieving their next steps into further education, apprenticeships, employment or training
Requirements What we’re looking for Essential
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • Strong subject knowledge in GCSE English and Maths
  • Experience working with students with additional needs (SEMH, SEND or Alternative Provision)
  • Ability to deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet a wide range of learning needs
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners and helping them achieve positive outcomes
Desirable
  • Previous experience working within Alternative Provision, Pupil Referral Units or specialist educational settings
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches and restorative practice
  • Experience supporting exam access arrangements
  • Familiarity with Functional Skills or vocational qualifications
  • Confidence using educational technology and online learning platforms
  • Additional training or qualifications relating to SEND, SEMH, behaviour management or safeguarding
