Position OverviewAcademic Associate – Media Production (start September 2026). This is a four‑year fixed‑term position, requiring full‑time study of a Practice‑led PhD. The role involves teaching and assessment support for undergraduate programmes (0.5 FTE) and development of teaching skills.
Responsibilities- Undertake a Practice‑led PhD within the School of the Arts.
- Support teaching and assessment on Media Production, Film and TV Production, Music Production, Journalism, and Sports Journalism undergraduate programmes.
- Deliver seminars, workshops and tutorials – no more than six contact hours per week across two working days.
- Participate in training to develop teaching‑related skills and professional competencies.
- Contribute to the School’s research and professional practice initiatives.
- Transmedia and multimedia storytelling.
- Creative practice in visual/audio production.
- Cross‑border media practice and creative industries, including diaspora collaboration.
- PhD projects that translate media production work into social change and impact grounded in social justice principles.

All appointments are conditional upon acceptance into the PhD programme at York St John University. Consideration is given to job share or flexible working arrangements.
Qualifications and Experience- UK undergraduate degree in a cognate discipline with first‑class or upper second‑class honours.
- Professional specialisation in Media Production or an equivalent qualification from a recognised overseas institution.
- Completion or imminent completion of a Masters in Media or a closely related discipline is desirable.
- High proficiency in English, sufficient for doctoral research, teaching and administrative communication.
- Experience or interest in the research focus areas listed above.
