OVERVIEW The University of Wolverhampton is recruiting an Academic Lead
- English Language Support (China) to provide academic leadership for in-country english language support across Transnational Education programmes in Mainland china. Based within the Global Opportunities Office, this senior academic role focuses on curriculum design, assessment standards, moderation processes, and quality assurance for EAP modules and Pre-sessional english provision. The position supports china-based partnerships by ensuring that academic and language standards align with University regulations, CEFR expectations, and IELTS equivalency frameworks.

The role also includes periodic international travel to china, particularly between June and October.

Key responsibilities
  • Provide academic leadership for in-country english language support for Transnational Education programmes in Mainland china
  • Oversee EAP modules and Pre-sessional english provision
  • Ensure curriculum design and assessment processes align with University regulations, CEFR, and IELTS equivalency frameworks
  • Lead curriculum development and review activities
  • Support assessment design, standardisation, and moderation
  • Chair assessment review meetings
  • Liaise with external examiners
  • Approve and support local tutors
  • Monitor student outcomes and progression standards
  • Produce annual quality reports
  • Contribute to the strategic development of english language pathways across china-based partners
  • Undertake periodic international travel to china between June and October
Requirements
  • Experience in academic leadership
  • Academic credibility in english language support
  • Knowledge of curriculum design and review
  • Experience with assessment, moderation, and standardisation processes
  • Understanding of CEFR and IELTS equivalency frameworks
  • Ability to support and approve local tutors
  • Capacity to monitor academic outcomes and progression standards
  • Ability to contribute to strategic development activities
