Senior Lecturer in Aerospace Engineering - Transnational Education (China)

The Department of Engineering has an established reputation for excellence in high-value manufacturing, underpinned by a strong academic record and a vibrant research culture. The Department works collaboratively with a wide range of industrial, academic and research partners across the UK and internationally.

As part of its internationalisation strategy, the School is delivering programmes overseas and is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced academic to support the delivery of its Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering programmes, with an initial focus on delivery in China.

You will be expected to spend periods of the academic year undertaking teaching and related academic activities at the University of Wolverhampton’s newly established Joint Education Institute (JEI) in Kunming, China, through agreed periods of flying faculty delivery. The pattern and duration of overseas activity will be agreed in advance and will be determined by programme and operational requirements. Overseas teaching is expected to comprise a number of teaching blocks, typically totalling up to three months per academic year, with no individual visit normally exceeding 30 days.

You must hold a PhD in Engineering or a closely related discipline. Membership of an appropriate professional body is desirable. You will demonstrate substantial expertise across key areas of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering, together with the ability to contribute to high-quality teaching, research, curriculum development and wider academic activities.

You will contribute to the delivery, supervision and ongoing development of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in both the UK and China. Working collaboratively with colleagues at the University of Wolverhampton and our partner institution, you will help ensure an outstanding student learning experience and the delivery of programmes that meet the University's academic standards and quality expectations.

You will contribute actively to the School's and Faculty's research activities, undertaking high-quality research both independently and collaboratively within established research groups and across complementary areas of expertise. You will have a strong track record of publishing high-quality research in leading scientific and technical journals, together with the potential to secure external research funding, develop collaborative research partnerships, and generate external income in support of the University's research and innovation agenda.
