Teacher, Teacher Assistant​/ Paraprofessional

Smile Education are proud to be recruiting for a Qualified Teacher to join a large and welcoming special educational needs secondary school in Wolverhampton

Due to the diverse needs and abilities of the students, the school is open to applications from teachers with either a Primary or Secondary teaching background
. The successful candidate will be confident in adapting their teaching to meet individual needs and supporting students who may be working significantly below their chronological age.

As a Qualified Teacher, you will work within a small-class environment
, taking the lead in delivering engaging and appropriately differentiated lessons and activities. You will work closely alongside experienced Teaching Assistants, ensuring that learning is accessible, purposeful and tailored to the needs of each student.

The role will involve:

• Planning and delivering engaging lessons adapted to individual learning needs.
• Supporting secondary-aged students, including those working at a primary level
  .
• Working confidently within small classes and taking the lead on learning activities.
• Working collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and other members of the school team.
• Building positive, trusting relationships with students.
• Using effective behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
  .
• Supporting students with a range of SEND, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH and PMLD.
• Creating a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment.
• Monitoring progress and celebrating individual achievements.
• Maintaining the school's high expectations for learning, behaviour and personal development.

The school is looking for a teacher who is confident, adaptable and passionate about working with young people with additional needs
.

You will ideally have:

• QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).
• Experience working with children or young people with SEND is highly desirable.
• A Primary or Secondary teaching background will be considered.
• Confidence teaching students within a small-class setting
  .
• Strong behaviour management skills.
• The ability to adapt lessons and activities to meet a wide range of abilities.
• Confidence supporting secondary-aged students who may be working at a primary level.
• The ability to lead a classroom while working effectively alongside Teaching Assistants.
• A nurturing, patient and consistent approach.
• High expectations for student achievement, behaviour and personal development.

The school is open to considering both full-time and part-time teachers
. For part-time applicants, the school would require consistent days each week to ensure continuity for students and staff.
