We are looking for an inspirational SENCO at our Bushbury School based in Wolverhampton (WV10)
Bushbury School is a specialist school for pupils aged 7-19 with Autism and Speech, Language, and Communication
Needs (SLCN).
Based in Wolverhampton, the school has been thoughtfully designed and renovated to the highest standards, providing bright, modern learning spaces that inspire and engage. The school features safe, multifunctional co-regulation spaces and a beautiful sensory garden designed to enrich students’ learning experiences.
We provide a holistic, bespoke curriculum with rich learning opportunities that enable young people to develop their functional life skills in order to experience a high quality of life.
We are looking forward to opening the school and the Headteacher Johanna is eager to get started!
At Horizon Care and Education, our SENCOs are supported by Headteachers, Operational Directors and the Managing Director of Education Services. This structure of support allows Senior Leadership Teams to focus on and deliver the best outcomes for children, young people, and their families.
To be our SENCo, you’ll be a multi-talented professional, you’ll have great leadership and communication skills; endless enthusiasm, resilience and vision, and a commitment to both the education and the achievement of each young person.

The successful applicants will need:
- Must hold a SENCOQualification or be close to completing
- Must have a QTS status
- Make a valuable contribution to the offering that young people receive at the school as part of the provision of high-quality teaching and learning.
- Have some experience of working effectively with local authorities.
- Have a passion for ensuring all young people succeed.
- Be able to work effectively within a supportive, committed, and successful staff team.
- Have high aspirations for themselves and others, and a commitment to further development.
- Have a robust understanding of SEND Code of practice
- An understanding of SEMH education and how to support the additional needs associated with SEMH pupils.
