Estimator, Manufacturing Engineer
Part of the Northern Industries Group, Steelway Ltd have been trading for almost 100 years and are experts in our field. We design and manufacture secondary/access metalwork - metal flooring, walkways, staircases, platforms, ladders, fire escapes, handrails, balustrades, heritage & architectural metalwork, along with general fabrications in mild steel, stainless steel, and GRP. As a company, we continue to invest in our manufacturing facilities, including the latest plant, equipment, and automation such as robotic welding systems, automatic laser cutting, and CAD/CAM technology.
Aboutthe Role
We are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Sales Estimator to join our team in Wolverhampton, West Midlands. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced estimator to play a key role in and securing bespoke steelwork projects. Reporting to the Commercial Director, you will be responsible for producing accurate estimates and detailed quotations from client drawings, specifications, and site information.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduce detailed estimates and quotations from client drawings, sketches, specifications, and site visits. Liaise with the project team, clients, architects, and structural engineers to gather technical information. Attend internal and external project meetings, providing commercial input. Attend site visits to scope works, assess project requirements, and gather accurate information to support detailed and commercially sound estimates. Ensure all estimates are compliant with specifications and commercial requirements.
Maintain accurate files, records, and tender documentation. Support and mentor junior estimators and contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an estimating role within steelwork or access metalwork (preferably having held a senior estimating position previously)
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering and technical drawings.
- Previous experience conducting site visits to support pricing estimates.
- Sound understanding of engineering and fabrication practices.
- IT proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of structural steelwork, open-mesh flooring, and handrails would be advantageous.

Monday – Thursday: 08:30 – 16:45 & Friday, 08:30 – 15:30 (37.5 hours per week, office based)
