You will be working in the Infrastructure OU where our team brings design, build and refurbishment excellence to complex civil engineering projects nationwide - combining technical expertise with a passion for creating lasting value for people and places.
Assistant Design Manager As the Assistant Design Manager, you will:- Be accountable for the design management of work packages allocated to you and their delivery to the agreed plan.
- Manage and coordinate with design teams and sub‑contractors for the packages or small projects you are allocated so their activities are planned and programmed and integrate with the project programme.
- You will work to the Design Management Plan, ensuring design control processes / governance are applied. That designs coordinate and integrate as they develop and information is shared between parties so that designs proceed as planned.
- You will verify the information exchanged is complete, of the quality required and where appropriate, is checked by suitable competent people.
- You will support the Design Manager / Senior Design Manager in assessment of consultant’s applications for payment, Early Warnings and Change requests.
- You will work with the Design Manager / Senior Design Manger, BIM Manager, Environment, H&S, Commercial, Stakeholder team, Construction Team and Planner.
- Contractor, Designer or Client experience of projects of similar type, scale and complexity
- Working towards professional qualification or hold a Professional qualification
- Relevant degree (or similar) in the technical discipline being managed e.g. Civil engineering, Building, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering
- Experience in working with consultants, architects, designers
- Experience in working with a broad range of stakeholders – Statutory Authorities, Local Authorities, Transport for London, Network Rail, HS2 Ltd, National Highways
- CSCS Card in suitable category (e.g. Professionally qualified Person or Manager)
- Experience working on National Highways projects
