Design Manager (£65-£70/hr) – Multi‑Disciplinary Water Programmes
Are you a Design Manager passionate about shaping critical, multi‑disciplinary infrastructure?
We are seeking an energetic and highly experienced Design Manager to join a premier design and advanced technology consultancy. This 12‑month contract is an exceptional opportunity to spearhead the delivery of cutting‑edge, transformational projects across the UK Water and Utilities market
.
If you are a proven engineering leader who excels at managing cross‑functional design teams, driving multi‑million‑pound project milestones, and collaborating directly with contractors, this role is built for you.
Location: National (Key project hubs: Epsom, London, Peterborough, or Cambridge)
Work Pattern: Hybrid (3 days per week office/site based)
What You’ll Be Doing:- Multi‑Disciplinary Coordination: Managing a diverse team of engineers to deliver complex technical designs covering clean water/wastewater networks, hydraulics, and pipelines.
- Delivery & Consistency: Driving and reviewing critical design deliverables (reports, drawings, calculations, and scopes of work) to ensure top‑tier quality and consistency.
- Milestone Management: Partnering with project management teams to keep technical inputs aligned with strict program deadlines, budgets, and key milestones.
- Collaborative Leadership: Aligning UK and overseas teams across key disciplines including MEICA, structural, and geotechnics to deliver integrated solutions.
- Industry Background: Solid experience managing design delivery teams within an engineering consultancy, specifically serving the UK Water market
. - Commercial & Delivery Savvy: Strong knowledge of full project life cycles, change management, risk mitigation, quality control, and contractor collaboration.
- Standards & Procurement: A practical understanding of CDM Regulations, Eurocodes, regulatory bodies, water utility standards, and NEC contracts
. - Qualifications: A degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent. Chartered (CEng) or Incorporated (IEng) status is highly preferred.
