About the Role
Working as part of our specialist cable team, you will contribute to the design and delivery of HV cable systems across a diverse range of projects, including substations, major renewable developments, HVDC interconnectors, and offshore grid infrastructure.
You will be involved across key design stages - from concept and FEED through to detailed design, supporting and leading the development of cable installation solutions. This includes cable routing layouts, trench and trenchless design, bonding and phasing arrangements, and jointing and termination strategies.
Collaboration will be central to your role, as you work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated and efficient design outcomes. You will also engage with key Transmission & Distribution clients, applying your technical expertise to deliver high-quality, standards-compliant solutions across complex projects.
Your ImpactIn this role, you will play a crucial part in delivering the cable infrastructure that enables the safe and efficient transmission of power across the network. Your expertise will directly support the development of reliable, high-performance systems that are essential to meeting the UK’s growing energy demands.
By contributing across the full design lifecycle, you will help ensure that cable systems are optimised for constructability, performance, and long-term reliability. Your ability to coordinate across disciplines will help resolve design challenges early, improving overall project efficiency and reducing risk.
You will also contribute to the growth and capability of the wider team, sharing knowledge and supporting less experienced engineers, while helping to embed best practice and innovation in cable design. Ultimately, your work will support the delivery of sustainable energy infrastructure and play a key role in advancing the UK’s transition to a lower-carbon future.
