Health Economist

Job Responsibilities

• Contribute to and sometimes lead complex, multi-source analytical projects to feed into commissioning, decision-making, and evaluation.
• Contribute to and sometimes lead analytical modelling projects with a Health Economics focus.
• Act as the ICB expert on Health Economics and econometrics, developing our understanding of how we cost/value interventions, and understand cost vs. benefit.
• Conduct high complexity analytics as part of economic evaluation, such as cost effectiveness analysis, cost-utility analysis, cost-benefit analysis, return on investment, and multi-criteria decision analysis.
• Support the use of STAR allocative methods, appraising evidence, developing costing/value metrics, and training others.
• Apply advanced problem structuring and appropriate statistical methods, e.g. logic modelling and root cause analysis.
• Work with the Data Science team, using open‑source coding methods and source control, to deliver complex analytical projects requiring varied skillsets.
• Promote analysis and use of evidence in decision making, ensuring that the work of the team is accessible and perceived as valuable.
• Work autonomously, proactively solving health economic, statistical and analytical problems and challenges as they occur.
• Lead the team in the delivery of project plans as allocated and agreed with the Head of Data Science, identifying risks, issues and dependencies, considering best practice and options.
