Role Summary

This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with experience in revenues, debt recovery or customer-focused financial services to support the collection and recovery of Council Tax, Business Rates, Housing Benefit Over payments and other debts.
Working within the Revenues team, you will provide high-quality customer service while ensuring recovery processes are carried out accurately, efficiently and in line with current legislation and Council policies.

What You'll Do as an Income & Recovery Officer

· Manage the collection and recovery of Council Tax, Business Rates, Housing Benefit Over payments and other debts owed to the Council.

· Provide advice and guidance to customers on liability, discounts, exemptions, payment options and debt recovery processes.

· Negotiate affordable repayment arrangements, taking into account customers' financial circumstances and vulnerabilities.

· Monitor repayment agreements, pursue outstanding debts and take appropriate recovery action in line with legislation and Council policy.

· Maintain accurate records, process correspondence and liaise with internal departments, enforcement agents and external organisations to support effective debt recovery.

What You'll Need as an Income & Recovery Officer

· Previous experience within Council Tax, Business Rates, debt recovery, revenues or a similar income recovery environment.

· Excellent customer service skills with experience handling enquiries by telephone, email and face-to-face.

· Knowledge of Council Tax and Business Rates legislation and debt recovery processes.

· Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a busy workload and meet performance targets.

· Good IT skills with experience using Microsoft Office and case management or revenues systems.
