Join us as the Head of Nuclear Medicine Physics at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust. This senior scientific leadership role will guide the strategic direction, development, and day‑to‑day delivery of the nuclear medicine physics service, with a particular focus on commissioning a brand new radiopharmacy and developing MRT dosimetry.
Job SummaryKey responsibilities include:
managing staff and resources; ensuring accurate and safe delivery of nuclear medicine procedures; leading a multidisciplinary team that supports the Trust’s gamma camera and nuclear imaging service; overseeing molecular radiotherapy physics services (such as I‑131 and Ra‑223) and radiopharmacy services; overseeing radiation protection; and directing strategic service development and budget allocation.
- Lead and manage the nuclear medicine physics service within a multidisciplinary team (Oncology, Radiology).
- Provide senior level technical support to the Trust’s gamma camera and nuclear imaging service.
- Oversee the molecular radiotherapy physics services, including I‑131 and Ra‑223, and radiopharmacy operations.
- Direct strategic service development and leadership of the section.
- Manage the budget for the section, covering pay and non‑pay staff.
- Implement and maintain radiation protection within the section.
- Valid HCPC registration.
- Valid MPE certification.
- Relevant first degree and MSc in radiation physics.
- PhD or equivalent evidence of research training.
- Extensive relevant experience in nuclear medicine physics.
- Proven managerial and leadership skills.
- Expert understanding of UK ionising radiation legislation.
- Broad knowledge of radiation and associated areas in Medical Physics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid RPA certification or working towards certification.
- Diploma level or equivalent in management.
